The Light at the End of the Tunnel
“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28
It may seem bleak now, but the Lord is working all things out for your good as His child. If you believe Jesus is Lord, that He came in the flesh, died for your sins, and rose again, then you are His child, and He’s working on your behalf.
“No weapon formed against you shall prosper...” Isaiah 54:17
No fiery darts or pestilence will come near you… He will send His angels down to protect you. (Psalm 91)
The Lord’s already got it set up for you to prosper and not fail. No matter what struggle or storm you’re in, God has already made a way, so you can have peace knowing that He’s got you.
If you’re in a tunnel that’s so dark, you can’t see around you, the walls feel like they’re caving in, and you’re starting to wonder if you’ll ever make it out, keep pushing forward. Keep moving forward. You know what they say: there is light at the end of the tunnel.
I think that is said for two reasons, one natural, one spiritual.
- Jesus is the Light of the world. When you continue seeking the Lord, He will become brighter and brighter, guiding your way to the end of that tunnel, to Him, for all of eternity. Whether it’s the tunnel of a situation of which you’re wanting to get out or the tunnel of life that comes with its ups and downs and sufferings, the Light will guide you to where you need to be, to get to the other side (of that struggle or heaven). The tunnel will not stay dark because God is working all things out for your good, so you can know that at some point, you will reach the light and it will be good.
- A tunnel insinuates that there is an exit and/or entrance, a way out. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be called a tunnel; it would just be some hollow circular sphere in the middle of a mass that we couldn’t even reach. So, naturally, there has to be a way out, a light at the end of the tunnel (or at the beginning, and we need to turn around to get ourselves out of this).
